GLOVERSVILLE – The Gloversville Housing Authority met Monday night and went into executive session for more than an hour and half to discuss the appointment of a new executive director, but then emerged from the closed door meeting without having hired anyone. A 28-year-old father from Carthage was ordered bound over for trial Thursday on a felony charge of neglecting his two children. David L. Morris Jr. waived a preliminary hearing on the charge in Jasper County Circuit Court and was ordered to stand trial by Judge Joe Hensley. A study into cleanliness habits has found a third of Brits are washing their bedsheets just once a year. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released its 2020 Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) on March 18. Also called the Point-in-Time (PIT) report, the AHAR graphs changes in the numbers of sheltered and unsheltered homeless people from year to year. The PIT report concluded that nationally, homelessness had increased even before the economic impact of the pandemic. 580,466 people were homeless on a single night in January 2020—an increase of 2.2 percent from 2019.
